Central WisconsinTransfer of Wealth

A shared initiative of four Central Wisconsin community foundations

The largest transfer of wealth in our region's history is happening now.

Over the decade ahead (2025–2035), an estimated $22.8 billion will pass from one Central Wisconsin generation to the next. If just 5% of it stays home, it becomes $1.1 billion of permanent endowment — granting to our towns forever.

The opportunity

What is the Transfer of Wealth — and why does 5% matter?

01

Wealth is moving

Farms, homes, businesses, and savings built over lifetimes are passing to the next generation — an estimated $22.8 billion across our 6 counties in ten years. Much of it will leave the region with heirs who live elsewhere.

02

5% can stay home

A modest charitable share — five cents of every dollar — set aside in a will or estate plan flows into your local community foundation's permanent endowment instead of leaving for good.

03

Endowment gives forever

Endowed funds are invested and pay out roughly 5% in grants every year, in perpetuity. A single generation's generosity becomes scholarships, parks, and thriving main streets for every generation after.
